Outline of data | Turkish economy increased by an annual rate of %5 percent over the period of 2000-2015. Electricity energy demand in Turkey increased by the same rate with the economic growth over the same period. However, Turkey's domestic energy resources (natural gas, fuel oil and coal) are not sufficient to meet this increasing demand. In addition, renewable energy investments have not been achieved in expected rate between 2000-2015. Therefore, electricity demand was met from imported energy sources (mainly from imported natural gas) in Turkey over the same period and the share of imported natural gas in the electricity generation was gradually increased every year. The database provides Turkey's dependence rate on imported natural gas in the electricity generation between the years of 2000-2015. |
